Moy looked so pretty the other day I took a whole series of pictures, in most of which she was smiling beautifully.

But this expression caught me by surprise.

Look at her eyes! Wide open, waiting expectantly to be listened to.

Mom! She seems to be saying: I want to tell you something.

A few nights later I dreamt that she spoke to me. It was mundane – she told me her feet were cold and could I put her socks on please, but the dream filled me with joy. It reminded me of all the hectic life going on inside her, and how much can be said without words as long as we remember to listen. Living with Moy Moy is a constant reminder of all that we don’t know and can only imagine. I am learning more about communication than I would have thought possible.

And here she is again, seemingly pleased that I got the message:
