In Fun!

I love celebrating St Patrick’s Day in India because it never fails to impress people here that we in the wicked west also have festivals as whimsical and fun as Holi and Basant Panchami. The entire family from Mummy to Moy Moy dresses in green and we eat scones for breakfast (when the kids were small I used to color them green!) and baked potatoes for dinner. His Feast Day always falls during Lent, and traditionally on this day the Lenten rules are lifted (I’ve given up wine this year, so technically I could have a glass tonight; Get thee behind me Satan!).

What a wonderful picture! I remember how amused my teacher was in school when I showed up with green scones on St. Patrick’s day: “Oh..,” she said wonderingly, “so you eat only green food on this day?” “Yes,” I replied emphatically, with all the seriousness of a five year old.

    Hoorah for St. Patrick!

This is a lovely picture and my favourite colour is green too. I like the comment about eating only green food – it may be a good way to get children to eat green vegetables. I will try and remember this next year!!
