Splash! Surprise!

Life is whatever we make it.

Here’s an old weighing scale which has lived in our bathroom for the past fifteen years. Before I started poking at it (I pulled the plastic cover off before I thought to take a photo!), it was fine at what it was supposed to do. It was serviceable, solid, reliable and B-O-R-I-N-G.

But who said it had to remain that way? Life is what you make of it. And this scale was just crying out to be transformed. Design*Sponge At Home, an amazing new book of DIY projects gave me the idea for this one.

A little yellow spray paint, a lawn green piece cut from an old yoga mat – and look at her now!

Now she has acquired a personality and she lives in our bathroom like the reigning queen. She makes me smile every time I look at her.

So now I’m looking around in my life and wondering what else is out there just waiting to come into its glory . . . the fun! the surprises! the yellow paint and the green lawn mat!
