A Thousand Small Acts of Belief (in Blue Shoes)

Our beautiful fundraising campaign to construct the first totally inclusive, universal design campus for disabled kids in India is achieving so much more than just raising money.

A few days ago, something almost miraculous happened on the Give India platform where we’re running the fundraiser. The campaign was ticking along quite nicely with donations coming from lots of the usual suspects. Then one morning, something crazy started happening: our own staff started to donate – sweet tiny amounts of Rs 151, Rs 201, Rs 500 – all from the helping staff, the bus drivers, the didis, the gardeners and the gatekeepers.

It was such a magical, wonderful day! And somehow, the energy of their generosity made us even more committed to the campaign’s success – we pulled out all the stops that day and managed to raise nearly Rs 8 lakh in less than 12 hours.

In the last five days of the campaign, we decided to up the ante with something special! “Wear blue shoes,” we told our supporters, “Donate a little. Donate a lot!”
