It’s that time of year when children transition across centers at the Latika Roy Foundation (LRF). At the Early Intervention Center (EIC), we had 11 children move up to Karuna Vihar Special School. “With the children, we had to bid farewell to their mothers as well,” says Pooja Panwar, Project Head, EIC about the bittersweet moment.

Moms, teachers, therapists and assistants converged at a celebration where they shared happy memories – their favorite support group sessions, the friends who’d inspired them, and things they’d learnt over the years. Some mothers were teary-eyed as they described how grateful they were for the connections they’d made at LRF, the support they’d received, and the life-changing experiences they’d been through.

Divyansh’s mother credits her family’s transformation from anxious to optimistic to “the hard work of the LRF team” and the “mental support and courage they offer that changes the whole family’s way of life”.

Madhavi has been at the EIC for four years. “I saw many positive changes in her movement, speech and comprehension when she came here,” said her mother Chitra . “LRF has given my family hope. The (staff) are very supportive and I’ve made friends who’re a source of immense happiness because we understand each other so well,” she said.

“My key takeaways are patience, continuous motivation and dedication, maintaining a positive attitude, believing in my child, and making time for my own needs as well,” said Tanmay’s mother, Gunjan.

All the mothers left with personalized messages from us and flowerpots as a token of our love and appreciation.
