Mail From Home

img_0910.jpg

Dad was once a champion letter writer. He could churn them out by the dozen, and he never forgot a birthday or an anniversary. When we were in college, he would often send us little notes, with a five dollar bill slipped inside and instructions to “go out and have an ice cream cone”.

Now it’s more difficult for him to keep up with his correspondence. He has endless lists and he does his best, but some days it’s hard for him to remember his own address, let alone those of his kids and grandchildren – to say nothing of his many friends.

Like everyone else, though, he still loves GETTING mail. Many of his correspondents now email him, through me (jo@latikaroy.org), and I print them out and deliver them to him as they arrive. He can’t get over it – it’s like the old days, he says delightedly, when there were two and sometimes three postal deliveries every day. Sometimes, just for fun, I do a “Special Delivery” late at night, also old-days style.

So keep them coming! I promise to print them out – and singing telegrams are also welcome!
