Lucy, Our Jewel in the Crown

lucy.JPG

I have already written about all that Lucy did for Mom while she was alive. Here’s what a friend of hers told her about what Mom is going to do for her:

Lucy,

I was very sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. I know she was a wonderful lady and that you loved her and lovingly cared for her in her last days. Caring for a dying parent is a little secret jewel that you carry for the rest of your life. Nobody gets to see it but you and it shines brighter and more beautifully as time goes on. You will treasure it. You’ll see.

I’m glad I got to meet your mom. She raised a fine brood that has enriched countless lives, including mine. I know the boys and Robert will miss her. I hope your dad and the rest of the family are doing well. Cassie and I love you and are thinking of you.

David

(David took care of both his own parents in their final years.)
