Fr Michael Himes

the-teacher.JPGWhat a teacher! Cathleen asked me to attend one of her classes at Boston College, saying the professor was the most brilliant person she had ever met (except, of course, for her aging parents). So I went, expecting that her opinion had been formed largely by her youthful enthusiasm. But no. This was the real deal. Fr Michael Himes teaches Theology at BC and manages, somehow, to make it as exciting and compelling as rock music or the latest movie. There he was, talking about God as the “ground of our being”; explaining how God is Love, and how that is revealed in our own lives and in the way we love each other and the kids were enthralled, eating out of his hand, laughing in all the right places, urging him on – begging him, as it were, to go deeper, to take them further down the road. It was a marvel to listen to and a privilege to be there. Do these kids realize how lucky they are???
