Latika Jaanch is our walk-in center for developmental assessments of children from birth till 18 years of age. While assessments are best done as early as possible in a child’s life, it is never too late. We encourage families to come the first moment they begin to worry, but our door is always open for all children up to the age of 18.
Our developmental testing program screens and assesses children with a variety of developmental concerns, delays and disabilities. This includes physical, communication, cognitive, behavioral, social domains of child development and activities of daily living.

Our interdisciplinary team of specialists at Latika Jaanch (formerly Gubbara) provides assessments and intervention programs to address the specific needs of children (0—18 years) and their families.
We incorporate standardized tools and typical development norms into play-based assessments, as well as conduct functional screening for hearing and vision, observation and parent interviews to assess for developmental delays and disabilities. We identify strengths and concerns with speech, mobility and cognition, and recommend interventions accordingly.
In collaboration with families, we arrive at a holistic understanding of a child’s strengths and challenges, as well as those of the family. We explain their child’s medical and developmental diagnosis in terms of their child’s development. Then we address their questions.
We develop and demonstrate easy-to-follow intervention programs and hands-on training so that parents can continue their child’s therapy and learning goals at home. Our interventions are customized to each family’s context and expectations and include special education, therapy, language development and play.
We train parents to support their child/adult at home using easy-to-follow plans and methods that are integrated within the child’s daily routine.
We help parents understand the specific
needs of their child, answer questions and
help them integrate therapy into the child’s
daily routine. This helps the child find purpose
and is easier for parents to implement within
their already busy schedule.

Designed by trained disability assessors, our hands-on sessions give parents practical ways to help their child at home. This can include demonstrations on how to help a child eat and swallow food or water, how to hold a pencil, put on and take off clothes, engage in a social environment and more. Parents practice these solutions in the presence of a professional, so they can be fine tuned and implemented at home.
A strength-based report is prepared in either English or Hindi, with recommendations for a realistic home management program. Depending upon where the parent is in their journey of understanding their child and his/her needs, we provide additional resources via handouts, website links and videos.
The Latika Jaanch team offers parents relevant and detailed information on resources for disabled children, that they can avail in their area.
We help disabled people understand their rights and entitlements.
Information and guidance on right-based services, government schemes and concessions, and how to avail them.
Our frequent camps help persons with disabilities get Aadhar cards and Disability Certificates.
Developmental intervention can always make things better for children and their families. In the early years of a child’s development, by drawing on the tremendous potential of the developing brain, children can compensate for their limitations and learn new ways of coping. Our developmental intervention services include assessments, special education, therapy, language development, and play.
For older children, we help parents to understand their child’s needs and let them be their advocates for better inclusion and participation. This helps improve the overall quality of life of the child and family.
To result in successful outcomes, therapy practiced by a professional must be followed up at home. Since time with professionals is limited, we work closely with parents to enable them to use therapeutic strategies with their children at home.
