Merry Barua at the podium, opening the conferenceLatika Roy Foundation was well represented at the recent International Autism conference in Delhi – organized by Action for Autism and featuring a wide range of world-class speakers including friends like Vibha Krishnamurthy and Koyeli Sen Gupta of Ummeed.

Shubha Nagesh attended the pre-conference workshop on Research Methods while Rashmi Rangarajan, Rashi Bhatnagar, Charanpreet Sachdev and Jo Chopra all attended the main conference.

Everyone had different favorites from the conference lineup: for some, it was the Trans-gender, autistic self-advocate Wenn Lawson who moved and regaled us with his stories and insights from the inside of an autistic mind (amazing!). For others it was the research into the effect of music on an autistic child’s brain or the adaptive abilities of teachers in Kolkata schools dealing with kids with autism in their classrooms.

It was all thought-provoking, challenging and enlightening. We all learned so much.
