Summer: 16 °C- 39 °C or 61° F- 102 ° F (April-June)
Summers are more sultry and severe of late, a fact which may not be reflected in the guidebooks. Most houses only have ceiling fans for relief – coolers and air-conditioners are not very common. Also, be prepared for power fluctuations and power cuts!.
Winter: 2 °C – 17 °C or 35° F- 63 ° F (November-March)
Central heating is unknown in Dehradun though we do have hot air blowers in many rooms. Compared to many places, our low temps don’t sound like much, but trust us: the winters here are very cold. Something about the stone floors and the drafty buildings. Bring warm clothes. The nights in particular are punishing.
Rainfall: June to August
Rainfall is heavy in Dehradun. It is also deceptive. You might wake up to a sunny morning with clear blue skies and an hour later, dark menacing clouds appear on the horizon! So be prepared with raincoats/umbrellas
